EARLY IN MY CAREER I looked upon painting as a mythic medium and it took me several years to achieve a sense of satisfaction about the mediums that I felt worked for me. My initial efforts were executed in mostly acrylic, later on in acrylic and collage and then I allowed myself some time with oil. The results with oil were by far the most successful for me but after a few years I found the fumes were difficult to deal with, but I do go back to it now and then. I have painted very small to very large but studio size has kept me from the large formats and in the last few years I have come to work mostly on prepared wooden panels. Much of the time I work on paintings that are small, jewel like images but it makes working large more and more exciting every time I do it. As in almost everything I do, paintings, drawings and collage, I approach the subject, medium and execution with an appreciation for historic values and concepts. Not that the content is presented in an historic treatment but with that the execution of the end product reflects a sense of rarity.
